THE DESIGNER

I’ve been creating for about 12 years now. I guess my start for jewelry design began when I was in Bali, Indonesia, and came upon Celuk, a village filled with goldsmiths and silversmiths. For any creative soul, Celuk is paradise. Known for their collective talents in Bali, nearly all the households in Celuk are full of artisans in silver or goldsmithing.

While I was in Bali, I started to sketch and came up with a celestial design and had it cast in gold (in Celuk) and set with a pink sapphire I had from an old ring I was wearing at the time. The piece recreates the sun and, “representing the Self, one’s way of being in the world.”

Upon receiving the finished piece, something clicked. “I thought to myself, ‘This is what I want to do, I want to design and create statement pieces.’” That was my inspiration. I fell in love with the whole process – from sketching, designing, sourcing the stone, carving the wax, casting, and finishing. Ultimately, I love creating something unique that becomes an experience, a memory, something that will last for generations.
